* MARCH 9TH 2018 - NEW WORK FOR DANCE, THEATRE & VOICE
*** UPDATE:  New Photo Gallery HERE
This Tuesday at the San Antonio Museum of Art, I'm premiering a new work for dance, theatre and voice. Move through space and time during a collaborative performance by local “street” choir, From Those Who Follow the Echoes, and San Antonio Dance Umbrella on Tuesday March 13th at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Original music and choreography will be performed in select museum spaces that tell a story of San Antonio’s future inspired by its 300-year history. Local actors, Brian Caron and Marcos Cervantes, will guide the narrative performance as an astronaut, philosopher and conquistador.

From Those Who Follow the Echoes, re-imagine unique spaces for their performances by incorporating elements of movement, space and depth. For this performance at SAMA, musicians will be singing and moving in a coordinated manner, actors will serve as the backdrop to the music and dancer Fa Winsborough will improv in select areas. A two-part finale will begin as an audience participation piece that will lean on patrons to perform musical cues using dog toys, clicking pens and magazines while the choir harmonizes. The second part is an ode to the late Andy Kaufman, as everyone will be invited to SAMA’s courtyard for cookies while the actors perform their final lines.

* MONDAY FEB 26TH 2018 - SXSW AND THEN SOME
Yep, it's that time of year again where everything seems to get jumbled together.  In the span 9 days I have quite a bit.  For starters, on March 4th at 3:30pm, I'm producing the 3rd edition of Indie Orchestra Night, where bands are backed up for a 100-piece choir & symphony.  It's the brainchild of myself and conductor, Brent Baldwin.  The event page is HERE

A music score I composed for the film, An Uncertain Future, screens at SXSW Film this year.  For showtimes, click on the logo below.  I also have a music performance for my piece, Ex-Nihilo, at the Austin Creative Alliance showcase on March 11th at 3pm.  THEN on the 13th at 7pm, I have a big concert at San Antonio Museum of Art for my mini-opera.  Hold your breath...

* JANUARY 1ST 2018
Happy New Year!  While 2017 was a great year, I'm excited about 2018 and the projects I have in the works.  To kick off the new year I was encouraged to start a Patreon page to help one of my missions of donating pianos to lower-income schools and communities.  I've donated close to 20 pianos over the last 3 years and all out of my own pocket and time.  I've had a lot of support through friends volunteering their time to collect them and help move them.  But I want to step things up and start restoring and donating a piano a month.  It's a lofty goal and a lot of work but I'm really passionate about it.  I'm actually a bit nervous about launching a Patreon and how to make it work, but I figure it's worth a try.  If you'd like to donate, it'd mean the world to me!  Thank you and here's to a fantastic 2018!

* TUESDAY NOVEMBER 21ST - EX NIHILO
I once wrote a chance piece that required 35 music stands, dice, Christmas lights, duct tape and scissors. Sheet music was cut up, shuffled and taped. Lights directed the performers. The Blanton Museum of Art let me premiere it. Brent Baldwin conducted it.  Caleb B. Kuntz filmed it. Performed by Luis Corpus, Mark Ford, Wayne Myers, Scott Biggs, Aron Frank

* MONDAY OCTOBER 29TH 2017 - MELBOURNE 6 PIANOS
What a whirlwind!  A day after my bus-opera I jumped on a plane to Australia, for two concerts for my 6-Piano Project.  I haven't seen an ounce of Melbourne because it's been so crazy with set up and rehearsals!  But alas, they are complete and they were wildly successful.  Time for a few days of relaxation.  Here are a few photos and a short video and then a few videos from the past for reference on the beginning of the 6-Piano Project that has now spanned 3 different countries and 4 different cities (Austin, Barcelona, San Antonio, Melbourne)...

* THURSDAY OCTOBER 5TH - OPERA ON A BUS
Alas, here it is. I'm extremely nervous about this production. I've been talking about wanting to do something like this since I lived in L.A. back in 2014 and now I get the chance. I have no idea how I'm going to pull it off. Two performances will be going on simultaneously in different buses.  We'll run the entire show twice and hopefully it doesn't fall apart! If you live in the central Texas or San Antonio area, this is the one you wanna catch. And if you can't make it, I'll take your prayers!!!
