Take Me Back to Odessa music video

* SUNDAY DECEMBER 14TH 2025 - TAKE ME BACK TO ODESSA

It's been over a year since I released my first country song, Out to Dance, which inspired me to start writing a full album and play live with bands in Austin, Brooklyn and Barcelona. My next single is Take Me Back to Odessa which was written as a last minute filler song a few days before for a recording session back in April due to a player cancellation. Originally I was dejected that we had to pivot but I often wonder if this song would have materialized without that alteration. I'm proud of the results which wouldn't have been possible without all the inspired contributions on vocals from Leslie Sisson, Jonathan Nesvadba, Joel Nesvadba, Odie, & P.T. Banks as well as Odie (bass), Ben Humphreys (drums), Phil McJunkins (pedal steel) & Bill Baird (engineer & lap steel). Shout out to Lucas Oswald for the mix and Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering. The video was filmed in San Antonio at Roosevelt Park, Palomino, Chifladas and around Southtown. It stars Leslie Carnes, Brian Caron and a cast of my close friends.

I'm really excited to present my chamber opera, Ribas-Dominicci, in Austin at the Opera Austin Festival on Saturday November 15th. This is a treat for me because I grew up in Austin and most of my work is presented outside of Texas. I hope my friends and family come an enjoy this opera that is based on story of Air Force hero Fernando Ribas-Dominicci who was shot down during Mission El Dorado Canyon in 1986. The lyrics to Borderland are sung in both English and Spanish and inspired by stories of families crossing the Texas/Mexico border and sacrificing their lives. I retreated from the social interwebs of the world in June. I faced some personal hardships compounded with being physically burnt out from nearly three months of touring + close to twenty performances that left me feeling empty and creatively lost. The break was a major mental re-shift for me and truth be told I didn't miss being active online or on social media. In fact I am now looking for a new way to balance the marketing needed for my music happenings in a healthier way so I can create more. I spent the month running, dreaming, composing about 20 more minutes for one of my operas and recording two new country tunes with my friends titled, I Left My Heart in Marfa and Take Me Back to Odessa. I'll debut these songs live in Barcelona for Jamonada IV on July 19th!
